The Zincs is an American rock band from Chicago, Illinois, formed in 1998. The band currently consists of singer-songwriter and guitarist Jim Elkington, bassist Andrew Schroeder, and drummer Mike Reed.
The Zincs began as a solo project of Jim Elkington, who had previously played in the rock bands Tortoise and Eleventh Dream Day. Elkington recorded The Zincs’ debut album, Dimmer, in his home studio in 1998. The album was released on the Drag City label in 1999.
The Zincs’ second album, Whet, was released in 2001. The album was recorded in a professional studio and featured a full band lineup.
The Zincs’ third album, Rust Belt, was released in 2003. The album was recorded in Elkington’s home studio and featured a more stripped-down sound.
The Zincs’ fourth album, Tinnitus, was released in 2006. The album was recorded in a professional studio and featured a full band lineup.
The Zincs’ fifth album, You Are Who You Eat, was released in 2009. The album was recorded in Elkington’s home studio and featured a more stripped-down sound.
